EAMA Indoor Inter-Area T&F Challenge 2017

The results for the Indoor Inter-Area T&F Challenge held at Lee Valley Athletics Centre on Sunday 26 Feb 2017 have been published and are available below.  Apologies for the delay but there have been some queries to resolve.  These results are now winging their way to Po10.

Track & Field in EAMA 2016

In February eight area clubs were represented in the well contested Indoor Inter-Area Match at Lee Valley with many high standard performances.  Two British records were set: W75 Iris Holder, long jump, 3.00; and W45 Carole Parker, shot, 11.74.  The men’s match was dominated by SCVAC, who scored 301 points to second placed VAC’s 254.5.  In the 800m. the club scored well in two age groups, Steve Baldock, aged 46, winning the M35 race in a very fast 1:59.71 and Dave Wilcock outclassing the opposition in the M60 with 2:18.57 and then in the 1500m. completing a fine double, clocking 4:42.49.  The women’s match was more evenly balanced, EMAC just edging out SCVAC by 246.5 points to 241.5. Carole Filer won four events for EMAC, 60m. in 9.07, 400m. in 73.81, long jump with 4.36 and high jump, 1.20.  SCVAC won the combined match.

In the Outdoor Inter Area Match at Solihull in July, again with eight area clubs, there was similar high standard and high level competition.  MMAC won the men’s match, narrowly beating SCVAC, 312 points to 304, but SCVAC took the women’s match by a larger margin from MMAC, 295.5 to 264.5, ensuring that SCVAC won the combined match.  A British record was set in the M50 high jump by Steve Linsell with 1.77 and a British best performance in the W50 2000m. race walk by  W60 Anne Wheeler.  Carole Filer was again very busy for EMAC, winning four events, long jump, 4.49, high jump, 1.35, both CBPs, and 200m, 30.98 and 400m, 72.46.
